Carlisle was spending the early day at home. He was scheduled to work the graveyard shift that night, so he was killing time reading a medical book. He had medical books up the wazoo. Medicine has changed so much since he first became a doctor and his study held evidence of it. As he turned a page in his book, his cell phone rang. He was always on call. The caller ID revealed that the all was from the lab. The doctor answered his phone.
"Dr. Cullen speaking.....hello Fred. Her results are in already?...Oh no. I'll give them a call. Thank you." Carlisle hung up the phone. He had recieved the sad news that his little patient Naomi was indeed very ill. It just confirmed what he already knew though. Now it was time to break the news to the family. This was a part of his job that he hated. He went to his cell phone menu and clicked his contact area. He scrolled down to Ralph's number and dialed. It went to voice mail so Carlisle left a message. "Mr. Fox..it's Dr. Cullen. We have recieved your daughter's results and would like you to come to the hospital as soon as you can. I'll be there." Carlisle said, trying not to speak in a saddened tone. He wanted to tell them in person versus in the message. Carlisle hung up his phone and put his book away.
